Biography
My dedication to visual expression began in childhood, evolving into a multifaceted professional career spanning several decades. A native of Spokane, Washington, I pursued formal training in fine arts at the Rocky Mountain College of Art & Design in Denver.
My professional journey is marked by a diverse range of creative roles, including experience as a graphic designer, illustrator, muralist, art director, gallery founder, non-profit art school founder and work in film and television production. This broad foundation ultimately led to a focus on professional painting, a practice I have maintained for more than twenty years.
My work has been widely exhibited and is represented in numerous private and public collections across the country and internationally. Currently, I reside and maintain my studio in picturesque Hobart Washington. Just outside of Seattle, on an organic vegetable farm shared with my wife and children.

Artist Statement
My work is an exploration of deep emotion and the strong, often fleeting, memories of valuable personal moments. I aim for my paintings to serve as a transportive experience, inviting collectors to inhabit another place and time. Drawing heavily on a passion for travel, my compositions are not literal depictions but rather idyllic windows into a specific, felt experience. The act of painting allows me to interpret these memories, often incorporating the ambient sounds that color a moment alongside the visual elements. The ultimate intention is to evoke a powerful sense of nostalgia, reminding the viewer of specific, resonant times in their own lives.
A critical element of my practice is the creation of movement and animation within the painted surface. I achieve this through the deliberate use of shadows, which represent the ephemeral nature of a moment in time. These shadow figures are not intended as literal images, but rather as a reflection or the shadow of one's spirit, capturing a sense of presence and transition. Through this technique, I seek to freeze a moment while simultaneously suggesting its passage.
My passion is to take moments that happen in my mind and share them with the world. In doing so, I hope to provoke thought or inspiration, or just a momentary escape for the viewer. I feel stronger than ever that – as William Shakespeare wrote in Macbeth – “Life’s but a walking shadow.” We can only experience life, moments at a time. We cannot control time and it stops for no one. As an artist, I try to leave my personal stamp on this temporary world. Hopefully giving something beautiful as a gift for those who follow.
